Memorial to Mona
“I have a request from you. I want you to pray that we will go to the .field of execution dancing.” – Mona Mahmudnizhad said to her sister, Taraneh, at their last visit.
They hanged us, us women, Us Baha'i women, One by one, Thinking they could force us to recant.
I ask of you, let me go last. I will pray for my people. Our people. I will pray for the happiness of mankind.
They took me into a room, tied me to a bed; and whipped the soles of my feet. They asked me to convert to Islam. No, I would not. They continued to beat my feet, until I could no longer walk, and dragged me to my cell.
Mother, treat these other women, with the same love and affection. Do not make me seem lucky to have my mother with me.
My life is temporary, My Faith is interwoven with my body. To deny my Faith is to deny my existence.
Mother, if my execution, would result in all youth holding hands and moving forward, in ethnic harmony, in service to humanity, learning the Bahá'í principles, and teaching the Word of God; Love, peace, and unity, I, I, mother, I would suffer 100,000 executions! |
